Case study: Reaction to adhesive
Short history:
Molly had an x-lap December 15th 2016. After the operation the surgical incision was covered with a Sorbact dressing. The dressing was removed December 16th at a preoperative check up. The patient had an allergic reaction to the dressing and the skin came off around the edges. At first it looked sore but not bad (see supporting files). The owners were instructed to gently clean it at home. However it got worse and worse. December 27th we did a surgical debridement (see supporting files). The wound healed fast the first few weeks but then stagnated and improvement was barely seen between the last check up March 8th and March 29th. Due to lack of experience, skin grafting was not attempted or considered in the beginning of the wound treatment. The owner is extremely patient and willing to do almost whatever we decide. We are also willing to try new approaches, also surgical. The owner does not want to do it if it means we have to remove all scar tissue and make the wound its original size. We have been dressing it a With Manuka ND honey inpregnated non-adherent dressing, a Foam dressing, a layer of Solvaline, cotton and then vetflex.
